5th - 12th Graders
You...and a friend or more!
F.L.Y. meets on Wednesdays of the month during the school year from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
This year we are going to try something new; change things up and focus on a Model for Intergenerational Faith Formation: Love and Serve: Youth Group Learns Compassion in Visiting Aging Adults; and inviting people to come to a Wednesday night to share their faith stories.
Here is how this is going to look (sometimes due to availability some Wednesdays may be switched):
Week 1: Caring Crafts/Projects to be delivered the following week
Week 2: Visitation - Adults drive youth to visit older adults from the congregation, community, and nursing homes. If you already know of someone who would love a visit please let me know! Youth will be trained to give a short devotional, deliver the craft, have an outline of questions to ask, and take a picture with their new friend! These will be printed and put on our bulletin board.
Week 3: Serving in Love - projects are almost all things that can be done at the church. IDEAS WELCOMED!
Week 4: Just for fun! Traditional youth group activities, games, going out to hike, bowling, get ice cream, etc.....
The Scripture Passage that captures all of this comes from 1 Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young. But be an EXAMPLE to all believers in the way you speak, and behave, and in your love, your faith and your integrity.
Please PRAY for our youth in this community as we venture forward this year in learning how to reach out in love and looking beyond ourselves. And pray that God works through you in a very special way through your time and talents to help our youth.
Our Main Theme and Bible Passage this year is "The Armor of God: STAND FIRM" from Ephesians 6:10-11
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
