Confirmation has gotten a bad rap lately. It is often seen as a period of torture for teenagers and a means of driving them out of the church. The true intention of confirmation, however, is - and better be - the exact opposite. Confirmation is a time to walk with young adults as they learn more about what it means to be a Christian and, in our regard, a Lutheran and what it means to be a member of a community of faith. The purpose of confirmation is to help young adults become mature Christian adults living out their lives and gifts within a community of faith and in the world for the sake of others and for the glory of God!
The Confirmation program here at First Lutheran is geared for young adults in 6th through 8th grades.
We celebrate the Rite of Confirmation annually on Reformation Sunday (typically the last Sunday in October) when we welcome the young adults as confirmed members of the congregation - and expect them to share in our life and mission together!
Should you desire to register your child for confirmation or have any questions, please contact the pastor or the church office.
