Our Core Values
Our Core Values are what shape our unique identity in this particular community and context. Our Core Values speak to what is most important in our lives. Our values determine our distinctiveness. They dictate personal involvement, communicate what is most important among us, influence our overall behavior, and inspire us to action. Our Five Core Values are (identified from the home group process held in the spring of 2008):
FaithWe live by faith, for it is faith that gathers us together and faith that keeps us together.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 GrowthWe desire to grow in faith, understanding, and relationship with God and one another. We strive to teach and preach God’s Word responsibly and with integrity and encourage one another in the exercise of the disciplines of faith so that all may mature in Christ.
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 |
CommunityWe enjoy being with others in joyful, authentic, participatory Christian community and strive to live out healthy, happy, holy relationships in our worship, fellowship, homes, and community.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” John 13:34-35 Worship & Praise
We love being with God’s people in the presence of the Lord where we receive God’s grace and lift up our hearts and voices in love and adoration
How Lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, For the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out For the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young -- A place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God! Psalm 84:1-3 |
SharingWe like sharing what we have: our time, our talents, our possessions, our hospitality. We especially long to share the gospel because we know that it is God’s gift of life abundant and life everlasting to the world
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47 |
